Organic Company for New Business Development and Organisational Change
As the context evolves and the company has to adapt to it (through corporate operations or organic development of new businesses and the resulting organizational changes), the operational and management processes evolve and, unfortunately, rarely get simplified process maps … really.
Thus, IT is also changing the map. Development projects have severe time constraints (often more severe than economic) that cause this map is not always maintain the desired consistency. This translates into capabilities of information systems if not duplicated with large overlaps. The consequence is that the effort must be made to keep the entropy of these systems controlled over time increases … and rarely successful effort, i.e. the degree of disorder (i.e. lack of reliability, security, etc.) increases exponentially.
Normally, if nothing is done about it, the IT map after a few years after its launch last “big master plan” is far from understandable, simple and easy to operate and maintain (more money than necessary, less satisfaction users, less satisfaction from the big bosses who see how the “IT crowd” does not help them implement their great ideas .
In other business aspects which require complex infrastructures, the problem exists and is being addressed with some success encapsulating complex skills into “blocks” of machinery, hardware etc that meet standards facilitate interoperability, easy maintenance, reliability and overall capacity to evolve (examples range from the different control systems of nuclear power plants to mechanical and electronic devices of a car without forgetting the specifications related to components of personal computers). When you have taken this approach will produce inefficiencies that eventually causes incorporate any industrial process or other form of “arrangement.
